(+255) 692 883 333The Basic Certificate Programme aims to provide basic knowledge, skills, attributes and attitudes that will enable graduates to work in governments, NGOs, local communities, the private sector and international agencies to support in the management of Wildlife Tourism. The Programme, therefore takes both national and international perspectives on board. It is designed to provide students with essentials of basic understanding of the Wildlife and Tourism Management sectors through field practical training in protected areas. After completion of the Programme, graduates will have acquired skills and knowledge to support them in undertaking Wildlife and Tourism Management initiatives in both private and public sectors. This Programme also lays the foundation for NTA Level 5 training offered by CAWM.
EITHER Certificate of Secondary Education (or equivalent) with a minimum of four passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Mathematics, Agriculture, English, History, Nutrition
OR, Vocational Training Award III in Livestock, Fishery, Agriculture, Beekeeping and Forestry from institutions recognized by Vocational Educations and Training Authority (VETA). Applicants applying using VTA III must have obtained four passes in Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE).

The College offers a Basic Technician Certificate in Wildlife Tourism which is designed for those who want to enter NTA Level 5 training or work in the lower ranks of Wildlife or Natural Resource Management Agencies, NGOs and private sector organizations. This programme is taught by the Department of Wildlife Tourism.
Training approaches include lectures, interactive structured lectures, directed and self-directed study, student presentation, field safaris and College- based practical training exercises. A student participates in safari modules.
Students must gain 120 credits to be eligible for the Basic Technician Certificate Award. These Credits are gained through passing all assessed Basic Technician Certificate modules. In order to pass Basic Technician Certificate modules, students must achieve a final module mark of not less than 50% (Continuous Assessments and final Examination) and in addition, pass the final examination by at least 50%. Module assessment is based on a mixture of practical exercises, written assignments group and Individual exercises reports, and final examinations. Module continuous assessment is 60% and the final examination is 40% of the final module mark, unless stated otherwise.
